The last newsletter was already almost a year ago. It is high time to update you again on the progress of the development of the new country estate Kingma State. Also, the book about Colonel Ignatius van Kingma (1621-1700) has now been published — the last Kingma who lived in the state (a Frisian manor house with land).

As for the state: the interest survey for the 10 homes in the new state resulted, at the end of 2021, in more than 20 registrations from prospective buyers. For participation in the estate company, the count now stands at 20 people interested in becoming a shareholder or certificate holder. On top of that come the future residents of the country estate, since they too will become shareholders.

As a family member, you can still register if you are interested in participation.

Voortgang van het bouwproject

In January we hoped to quickly reach agreement on the preliminary design for the new country estate Kingma State in a 'pressure-cooker' session, organized with the municipality and the aesthetics committee. Now, we are optimists (otherwise you should never start a project like this), but in this case we were far too optimistic. It turned out we needed as many as four working sessions, spread over 10 months, with the municipality, the aesthetics committee and the province, to reach agreement. The last three working sessions were led by an independent chair, Bearn Bilker, chairman of the Stichting Staten en Stinzen foundation and a former politician. The result is that we now have agreement on a design that has been adjusted in some respects (see image).

We can now proceed with the sales procedure as we envisioned it at the start of this year. The first step is an introductory meeting between the prospective buyers and Friso Bouwgroep, estate agent Duinstra Melis, and us. At that meeting we will explain the history of Kingma State and the lead-up to the project, and architect Frank Vijftigschild and landscape architect Frans Beune will discuss the design of the country estate. Friso Bouwgroep is handling the development and construction, Duinstra Melis is guiding the sale of the homes. If sustained interest is sufficient, the formal application for the environmental permit will follow. We expect to hold that meeting in February.

Are you interested in participating as a shareholder or certificate holder?

In the meantime, about twenty people from the immediate circle of family members around the initiators, and from among future residents, have already indicated that they wish to participate (see newsletter number 6). With that, we are already a good way toward raising the capital needed (€500,000) for the company.

There is room for a maximum of 20 shareholders with a minimum investment of €25,000 in the NSW BV, so don't wait too long to make your interest known.

Daarnaast kunnen familieleden en andere geïnteresseerden certificaathouder worden voor bedragen vanaf €250. Daarmee verkrijgen zij certificaten van aandelen.

A considerable part of the costs for the construction of the estate is paid from the proceeds of the sale of the houses.
