Foreword

This issue of De Kinkhoorn is a special one, devoted entirely to the genealogy. The following two paragraphs come from the pen of Tjeerd Kingma, as he prepared the genealogy now being published.

In this issue you will find as complete an overview as possible of the first eight generations of Kingmas up to ± 1700. Before further publication, some further work will still be done in connection with source references and the correct spelling of names, as they appear in the original documents and other sources. Any comments and additions are of course most welcome. The reason we have limited the genealogy to ± 1700 has to do with the fact that after the death of Ignatius Kingma in 1700, no direct descendants of the Kingmas lived on the State any longer. As Stichting Kingma State we have therefore felt we should limit ourselves to that period and complete, as far as possible, all information relating to it.

The genealogy up to ± 1700 can serve for many as a basis for further research into their own ancestry bearing the family name Kingma. In a future issue of De Kinkhoorn we will list as much data as possible about Kingmas from the period mentioned for whom no direct relation is known to the Kingmas of Zweins.

At our upcoming autumn meeting I will hand over the position of chairman to our board member Tjeerd Kingma. I have made this decision in view of the fact that I will turn 80 in mid-December. In addition, Stichting Kingma State will be celebrating its 10th anniversary in the middle of next year, which means it is also time for a change of chairman. As my successor we have found Tjeerd Kingma, who has already been a member of the board for quite some time, willing to take over the gavel. I myself will continue with historical research and writing about it in De Kinkhoorn. In connection with this it is necessary to stay in regular contact with the board members, so for the time being I will remain a member of the board. I am very pleased that Tjeerd is willing to take over the position of chairman, and I wish him a most pleasant and successful term.

Complete genealogy of Jelle van Kingum and his descendants up to and including 1700

Genealogy of the Kingmas to ± 1700 (2)

Below you will find the continuation of the first four generations of the Kingmas in De Kinkhoorn 16. The next four generations run to around 1700 and concern all Kingmas, both in the male and female line. A number of branches of Kingmas up to ± 1700, whose connection to the line of Jelle Kinghum is not clear, will be presented in a future Kinkhoorn. Perhaps someone may be able to make the link, so that this information can still be included.

V.3 Hero Pietersz KINGMA, minister, born on 08-05-1598 at Zweins, on the Kingmasate, died on 31-07-1667 at Sneek at the age of 69, theology student Franeker 1616, 1617, minister at Ytens 1625-1627, Oosterwierum 1627-1641, Sneek 1641-1667, son of Pieter Jelles KINGMA (see IV.1) and Aelcke HERE JELDERTSDR. Married (1) at the age of 27 on 26-04-1626 at Leeuwarden to Janke Jansdr ADAMA. Married (2) to Mink MINKEDR. From the first marriage:

1.	Antie Herodr, born on 17-03-1627 at Ytens, died on 11-11-1692 at Sneek at the age of 65. Married at the age of 27 on 23-07-1654 to Hopcke Attesz REYNALDA, 25 years old, born on 14-12-1628, died on 29-12-1689 at the age of 61, theology student Utrecht 1649-1651, theology candidate Sept. 1653, medical doctor Franeker 26.4.1661, lived at Stavoren, later Bolsward.

V.7 Neltie Pietersdr KINGMA, born 1599 at Zweins, died 1641, daughter of Pieter Jelles KINGMA (see IV.1) and Aelcke HERE JELDERTSDR. Married to Claes HENDRICKS, receiver of Franekeradeel, recorded as a married couple at Franeker 1636, she made her will 8.1.1658. From this marriage:

1.	Petrus Claes Hendricks KINGMA, born 1638 at Franeker, died on 29-01-1680 at Exmorra, theology candidate, deputy rector Bolsward 1664, student Franeker 20.7.1655, minister at Exmorra 1660-1680. Married to Janke HENDRIKSDR, died on 19-12-1679 at Exmorra.

V.8 Johannes Pietersz KINGMA, farmer, born circa 1605 at Zweins, on the Kingma State, died circa 1659 at Reitsum, buried at Reitsum, farmer at Oenkerk (1636), Lichtaard (1640), Reitsum (1667), son of Pieter Jelles KINGMA (see IV.1) and Aelcke HERE JELDERTSDR. Married to Gatske Wybrens BUMA, born circa 1607, daughter of Wybren Mintzes BUMA, farmer at Janum, assessor of Dantumadeel, deputy for Oostergo, and Mayke GABES. From this marriage:

V.14 Saeckle Intesz KINGMA, born circa 1584 at Schalsum, died on 12-02-1652 at Zweins, son of Inte Jellesz KINGMA (see IV.3) and Trijntie Saecklesdr van SANSTRA. Married on 11-02-1610 at Sloten to Buke THOMASDR, died on 19-01-1626. From this marriage:

1.	Catherina Saecklesdr van KINGMA (see VI.21).

V.16 Jan Intesz KINGMA, born circa 1585 at Schalsum, (?), died on 21-01-1645 at Tietjerk, (at least buried there), lived in 1615 at Weidum, is the earliest known owner of the site of the state of Oud-Bornia. From 1 June 1627 to 20 Feb. 1630 he was a deputy of the States of Friesland, son of Inte Jellesz KINGMA (see IV.3) and Trijntie Saecklesdr van SANSTRA. Married 1640 to Bauck Pieters BEYMA, died 1674-1677 at Minnertsga. From this marriage:

1.	Trijntie Jansdr (see VI.31).
2.	Inte Jansz, ensign, born at Huizem, died after 1677.
3.	Sybrechie Jansdr KINGMA van FERNIA. Married on 12-04-1674 at Winsum-Baard to Sybren Upckesz HAGERSMA, "Tichelaer" [brickmaker] Almenum 1677, departed elsewhere with a transfer certificate (Minnertsga 7.4.1674).

V.20 Trijntje Dircksdr KINGMA, died 1635, daughter of Dirck Jellesz KINGMA (see IV.5) and Fedtke Pybesdr WYARDA. Married to Claes WILLEMS. From this marriage:

V.28 Inte Broersz KINGMA, farmer at Wommels 1635, 1640, born at Wommels, son of Broer GOSSESZ and Jetske Jellesdr KINGMA (see IV.10). Married on 12-05-1639 at Deersum to Maeike SIOERDTSDR. From this marriage:

V.36 Pyter Intesz KINGMA, born 1580 at Achlum, died 1639 at Franeker, buried in the Martinikerk, lived at Oosterwierum on the "Harckema-sate" (1605 onward), burgher at Leeuwarden (1616 onward), secretary of Franekeradeel (1622 onward), notary public and postulant [postulating advocate] (1636), son of Inte Claesz KINGMA I (see IV.17) and Ulb Gerlofsdr RISPENS. Married 1604 at Oosterwierum to Tzietske Pybesdr WYARDA. From this marriage:

1.	Pybe Pietersz, baptized on 28-12-1606 at Leeuwarden, died after 1614.

He is the progenitor of Timothy Kingman USA; via Jarich, Floris, Johannes and Rienk Kingma we arrive at Harold and Timothy Kingman, the "n" having been added along the way. Son of Goris FOPCKESZ and Trijntie Jansdr KINGMA (see VI.31). Married. From this marriage:

VII.37 Ynte Dircks KINGMA, master baker and merchant, born 1656 at Rauwerd, died 1708 at Oldeboorn, son of Dirck Claesz KINGMA (see VI.35) and Bottje HOITES. Married on 16-09-1683 at Oldeboorn to Bauck JANS. From this marriage:

VII.49 Baefke Intesdr KINGMA, baptized on 22-10-1654 at Beers, died on 13-05-1712 at Beers at the age of 57, daughter of Inte Claesz KINGMA (see VI.52) and Berber HIDDESDR. VIII.34 Hylke Jansz KINGMA, merchant, shipowner, shipbuilder, co-judge of Wonseradeel, born on 16-10-1708 in Makkum, died on 24-09-1782 in Makkum at the age of 73, son of Jan MARTENSZ and Bauck GORISDR (see VII.33).
