Ruiter voor de Republiek

As we already mentioned last time, the long-awaited book about the life of the last family member to inhabit the state (a Frisian manor house with land), Ignatius van Kingma (1621-1700), was published in December under the title Ruiter voor de Republiek. Ignatius van Kingma, een Friese kolonel in het Rampjaar 1672. In this life portrait full of pride and tragedy, author Joost Kingma reconstructs the military campaigns and personal fortunes of Ignatius as a cavalryman for the Republic. On 14 February, the Friesch Dagblad published a fine review by Bearn Bilker, chairman, among other things, of the Stichting Staten en Stinzen in Friesland. The book can be bought via the website of publisher Noordboek (noordboek.nl) and at bookstores.

Buitengoed Kingma State: verslag informatiebijeenkomst

On Friday 10 February there was a first, very lively information meeting with people interested in the ten houses on the country estate. Invited for this first evening were those who had already shown serious interest last year and expressed a preference for one (or more) of the houses. It was a particularly lively and informative gathering with the seven people present. Initiators Joost and Jeroen Kingma gave a concise overview of the history of the state (a Frisian manor house with its land), the development process, and the organizational form of the new country estate. Landscape architect Frans Beune explained the landscape plan, and architect Frank Vijftigschild presented the design, with elevations and floor plans of the houses. Rosemarie Klapwijk of Friso Bouwgroep and estate agent Giorgio Melis of DuinstraMelis addressed the financial aspects of the construction and how to proceed with the sale and realization. The many questions on the minds of those present were gone through and answered as well as possible. An important starting point is that the future residents themselves will help steer the country estate, and will therefore also be involved in the elaboration phase of the land layout and organizational structure.

This session was the first in a series. As the design and organizational structure of the country estate are worked out further in the coming months and the finances are further detailed, questions will be answered more precisely, and solutions to land-layout and organizational questions will be sought jointly. As soon as it is known whether this group maintains its interest and the housing preference has been definitively recorded, other candidates will be able to apply, and the remaining houses will be allocated.

Are you interested in participating as a shareholder or certificate holder?

In the meantime, from the direct circle of family members around the initiators and from future residents, about twenty people have already indicated that they wish to participate (see newsletter number 6). With that, we are already a good way toward raising the capital needed (€500,000) for the venture. Family members who are interested in participating are still welcome to let us know – without obligation – (Joost or Bram Kingma via info@kingmastate.nl). There is room for a maximum of 20 shareholders with a minimum stake of €25,000 in the NSW BV. Of these, 1 shareholding is reserved jointly for the certificate holders. Family members and other interested parties can become a certificate holder for amounts from €250. In doing so, they acquire share certificates.
